he/him
My name is Walter, I live in Chicago and I have been playing D&D since 2010. I enjoy video games, TTRPGs, and almost everything science fiction or horror. When I'm not gaming or watching movies, you can find me in my kitchen or garden, either baking, cooking, or gathering herbs for tea.
I’m a laid-back person with a curious mind. I love the art of storytelling and creating cosy get-togethers for my friends and family during the holidays.
How I conduct games
I enjoy running games where the story takes precedence above all else. If it fits the narrative and the characters, let’s roll for it! I have the expertise for a detailed map and miniatures style game, and I’m even willing to visit the 3D printer lab on my work campus if the game requires it, but I prefer the theatre of the mind.
By concentrating on the story with just dice and pages, I believe the game can be far more immersive and accessible. I am a patient person with a friendly demeanour, and I love teaching people how to play, so you will never feel rushed or judged at my table.

A house rule I will always stand by…
Let potions be an object interaction for a role and a bonus action for maximum HP. It's a lot of gold and effort if you roll poorly.
The plan I spent weeks developing that lasted four minutes…
I had crafted an entire Steampunk campaign that had a murder mystery/Sherlock Holmes vibe to it. I planned a two-part finale featuring a challenging clocktower dungeon crawl that would lead to the BBEG at the top.
I allowed my players to shop independently between sessions, and most of the party picked up winged boots, while the others had fly. So after the players made their way to the top with laughter and cast shatter, we kicked off the boss battle with the party at full HP and an epic entrance.
Meanwhile, my intricate clockwork golem puzzle remains unsprung to this day.
My proudest moment as a Game Master…
Was that failure listed here lead to a thunderous roar of laughter and applause from the table. They effectively got one over on the GM, and that is the goal. I tell the story so that the players can have a fun and epic tale about how they defeated the Big Bad Evil Guy. Their laughter means that even when I lost, I won.
