Electric Bastionland

Electric Bastionland drops you into Bastion, a sprawling, electrified city of debt, scams, and strange opportunities. You play a crew of desperate misfits searching for treasure big enough to change your fortunes. The magic is rare, the tech is improvised, and the people are unforgettable. Fans appreciate how it gets straight to the point and how boldly it ventures into the bizarre, from back alley auctions to haunted substations and impossible museums. Every location dares you to poke it and see what happens.

A typical session feels like a street-level heist combined with urban exploration. Choices are clear, dangers are upfront, and clever plans matter more than lengthy character builds. It is ideal for newcomers and for veterans who enjoy old-school challenges. It excels for one-shots, birthdays, and creative team events, accommodating 2 to 6 players over 2 to 3 hours. A professional Game Master keeps the pace brisk and the city vibrant. Find your Game Master.

How to play Electric Bastionland

You roll only when risk matters. To avoid harm, sneak, or hold your nerve, make a Save by rolling a d20 and trying to get equal to or under the relevant ability score. Attacks skip to-hit rolls. Roll your weapon’s damage, subtract armour, mark it off your HP, then into your abilities if you run out. Bad hits can take you out fast, so scouting and smart play are key. Turns flow through conversation: you state intent, the Game Master clarifies factors, then you roll or the fiction moves on.

Players bring a short character with a failed career, a few odd items, and a clear need for cash. The Game Master brings living districts, factions, and risky opportunities. One-shots focus on a single job with a clean start and end, great for birthdays and team events. Campaigns track your growing contacts, debts, and territories across the city, letting your crew chase bigger scores and scars. Your Game Master can adjust tone and difficulty to fit your group, see GM playstyles.

Common questions

Do we need to know any rules to get started?

No. A professional Game Master explains the basics in minutes. When something is risky, you test an ability by rolling a d20 and hoping for a low number. Attacks use damage rolls immediately. You will learn by doing. Character sheets are concise. Most of the session involves discussing plans, examining situations, and making choices. A professional Game Master keeps things flowing and teaches as you progress.

What makes Electric Bastionland distinct from D&D?

No classes or lengthy level ladders. You are broke urban explorers attempting to clear debts in a vibrant city, not traditional dungeon delvers. The rules are streamlined, so planning and tactics are more important than character builds. Magic is unusual and rare. Technology is improvised and unreliable. Encounters clearly outline the risks involved. It feels more like small-time heists and exploring bizarre urban spaces than heroic fantasy quests.

How risky is combat and failure in this situation?

Characters can get hurt quickly if you rush in. The game rewards scouting, clever tools, and selecting your battles wisely. It's perfectly fine to retreat. Failure changes the situation rather than halting play, so consequences create new challenges to tackle. A professional Game Master signals danger and adjusts the tone to suit your comfort. Check out common GM playstyles your group can choose from.

What sort of characters will we be playing?

You begin as individuals with a failed career, a mountain of debt, and a few peculiar possessions. Each background provides quirky gear, contacts, and hooks. Character creation is swift and often humorous. You won’t spend ages selecting feats. Instead, you’ll assess what you have, converse with others, and devise strategies to make a score. Your crew is more important than stats.

Is it better for one-off adventures or longer campaigns?

It shines in both. A one-shot works well as a standalone job with a clear goal and tidy ending, ideal for a birthday or team event. In a campaign, your crew develops relationships, settles debts, and takes on riskier opportunities throughout the city. A professional Game Master monitors factions and consequences, ensuring your choices resonate from session to session.

What age groups is Electric Bastionland suitable for?

It is suitable for kids when approached with a light touch. The themes are urban, quirky, and occasionally tense, but you can keep the content non-graphic and emphasise curiosity and clever problem-solving. Teens tend to enjoy it. Mixed-age groups can work well too, especially when an adult sets clear expectations. Inform a professional Game Master about the tone you desire, and they will tailor the scenes accordingly.

  • First of all, I want to say that Sebastian was really great as a DM. For his first run as a booked DM, he did a fantastic job. The 3 stars refer to the following: 1. We were disappointed that the adventure was labelled a One Shot yet wasn't a complete story. Discovering that there are two more parts wasn't very positive for us, as it meant there was no satisfying conclusion to the story. 2. As new players, it was difficult for us to understand the English character sheets in such a short time. In German, it would have been much easier. Even receiving the character sheets a few days in advance would have been helpful for preparation. 3. More guidance would be beneficial. Especially for beginners, a more linear one shot would have been preferable. We wasted a large portion of the adventure time doing unnecessary things because we didn't really know how the game worked. Overall, I think the StoryForgers concept is really good and I see a lot of potential in it, especially for introducing new players to D&D. I hope you don't take my feedback the wrong way but see it as honest criticism. Cheers, Mario

  • Bryan was exceptional. We had a group with varying levels of experience, and he managed to keep everyone engaged and involved. His positive attitude made the game enjoyable for all. I really appreciated how he could clearly explain what was needed from our less experienced players while also keeping our more seasoned players on their toes with his extensive knowledge of the game. Everyone in our party had a fantastic time thanks to Bryan.

  • Dayron was fantastic. Well-prepared, punctual, and had a brilliant sense of humour.
